Post Event Reflection: FLOWER Wine

What you did:

Community voted (Proposal 5) to fund a wine tasting for NFT NYC 2023. We focused on FLOWER wine notes and our target was ~20 heads prioritizing XPs, aka our NFT holders. We landed at Dandy Wines in South Williamsburg, with owner Lily Peachin excited to lend her time and support to host us and teach attendees. Ericka was our community lead holding space, printing assets, on site to produce the event. Eileen, a new friend of TT (hey xx) hopped in to help check people in and support too. The event went from 2:30p-4:30p.

@Adam - Digital asset design

@Empowa - Post-Event TikTok Video here.

@0xBruxa - Concept design, coordinated venue, rates, timing. Pre-production. Wine selection. Wrote & designed print asset tasting cards.

@Erickamabrie - Concept design, asset printing, production, live hosting.

Eileen - On-site support, check ins, vibes.

Hypothesis going In:

We did very light promo and got ~ 70 RSVP requests. We didn’t want it to be too big since we budgeted only 150$ to cover wine, so we approved around 30 people prioritizing XPs. Considering the tight window we hoped folks would arrive on time and be able to enjoy tasting wine together as a group while learning the methods, more of a workshop vibe that references Thirsty Thirsty’s old sequential wine tasting events but in a smaller setting.

What went well:

“Immaculate vibes” - Maya, community attendee

“It was a super nourishing time and LOVED Lily” - Ericka, Host & Core Contributor

Dandy Wine Shop was an easily accessible location and the team (Lily, Bob and Mary) were welcoming. Set up was quick. Attendees came in good spirits, ready to connect and learn. There was excitement about future Thirsty Thirsty events and widespread interest in getting more involved.

What was challenging:

Folks showed up in waves which meant a staggered tasting like a classic “in-store” wine shop tasting rather than a more community educational wine party. We want to go for something stronger, more intentional and connected that balances learning with play. Our old motto of “festive but discreetly educational” stands true.

What did you learn:

We need to create stronger communication around coming to these workshop events on time. Specifically to explain WHY being on time transforms the gathering into a stronger experience, allowing hosts to build a container and guide community through the vision/themes/flavors of the event.

The FARM HANG (SF Blockchain Week) model is what I think we should continue using for now while we are small i.e. pull funds from the DAO to cover upfront costs, but charge tickets for attendance with it being free to XPs/NFT holders.

Attendance rate for this event was 50%.
