Layer 3, also known as the network layer, is one of the seven layers in the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model, which is a conceptual framework used to understand and describe how different networking protocols interact and operate.

The network layer is responsible for logical addressing, routing, and forwarding of data packets across different networks. Its main function is to establish an end-to-end connection between source and destination hosts, regardless of the underlying physical network infrastructure.
