Visualizing Mimesis

On June 1, Luke Burgis' book Wanting is released.

The book explains why we want what we want, drawing on the ideas of French polymath René Girard:

"Human desire is mimetic―we imitate what other people want. This affects the way we choose partners, friends, careers, clothes, and vacation destinations. Mimetic desire is responsible for the formation of our very identities. It explains the enduring relevance of Shakespeare’s plays, why Peter Thiel decided to be the first investor in Facebook, and why our world is growing more divided as it becomes more connected."

These ideas (and Luke's ability to communicate them) will instantly shift your perspective on how desire works.

I translated three of the most profound ideas in the book into visuals.

The collection will launch on June 1 at 1200 EST, here on vv.mirror.xyz.
