some mfers facts

been seeing some tweets & misinformation about mfers that can be cleared up. this article is a follow-up to my original mirror article “what are mfers.”

here are some of the claims i’m seeing, along with my responses:

  • “CC0/public domain means there’s no value for mfer owners”
    • the mfers floor is up roughly 4000% in 5 mos since the mint price of 0.069E. annualized that’s roughly 10,000%. rare mfers have increased more than ten times those amounts. i don’t make predictions or promises about future prices. (here’s a quote from my original article: “sartoshi will the floor go up? idk mfer”). whether u think there is value is up to u. 4000% seems like something.
  • “CC0 means mfers owners don’t actually own anything”
    • related point to above. the beauty of CC0+nft is u can free the copyright & enable anyone to use the art/images however they want (and no entity/corporation can buy/control them), yet the token (the nft) is owned by the nft holder & represents the og item. if u own a mfer, u own the og item even though the art is public domain/CC0. (also CC0 isn’t the only way to go & i’ve never said it was - bayc is crushing it with a different model…really epic stuff).
  • “sartoshi sold the IP”
    • nonsense. mfers were public domain since the moment they were created, as stated from day one on the minting site.
  • “sartoshi takes money from derivatives & then promotes those who pay”
    • no. literally just made up.
  • “sartoshi doesn’t like larva labs”
    • no. literally just made up. my original article explained how cryptopunks are an ingenious creation of larva labs. i’m in awe of what they did. a large part of my inspiration. never said a word to the contrary.
  • “sartoshi is advised by punk4156 and punk6529.”
    • no. this must be a misreading of my article where i say i’ve gained wisdom from their tweets or something. more made up stuff.
  • “creator royalties on mfers are bad/unfair”
    • creator royalties for the top 100 projects go up to 10% & most are around 5%. (check out sites like flips.finance & u can click into any project & see). mfers are at 2.5%. after splits to the mfers dev team etc, i net 1.75%. could have set the total % to a more typical amount like 5% & then split funds to a dao/fund but didn’t & kept it simple

this concludes this episode of some mfers facts

if u like mfers that’s cool if u don’t that’s cool too mfer do what u want
