Thoughts on Starting and Quitting an Axie Infinity Scholarship

I started playing Axie Infinity Scholarship at the end of August and withdrew at the end of October, so I'll write this down as a reminder. Axie Infinity is one of the most popular blockchain games in the world. It is basically a card game, and its characters can be bought and sold in the market as NFTs.

One of the great things about this game is that you can earn money called SLP by advancing the storyline and winning against other players. This money can be exchanged into cryptocurrencies such as BTC and ETH, so you can actually convert it into cash.

And now, thanks to the scholarship system, this game is exploding in the Philippines and other countries. Scholarship is a system in which a manager buys the characters needed to play the game and rents them out to scalpers to split the proceeds. For example, if a scalper who doesn't have a job in the Philippines plays the game and earns 1000 SLPs, 700 SLPs go to the manager and 300 SLPs go to the scalper.

I thought that was interesting, so I entered the game in a small way. However, I withdrew after about two months, so I'll write down my reasons as a reminder. By the way, the first scalar I tried was 5 players.

Good points

  • For some reason, I had the strange experience of working with Filipinos. Helping the Filipinos to earn money. Helping the Filipinos to earn money
  • Paying their school fees and making them happy As a manager of five people, I made about 100,000 yen a month. I learned how to choose characters. I learned how to choose characters
  • I sometimes felt like a failure at first

Hard points

If you are ambitious, you will be asked for a stronger character. I can't meet their expectations due to budget constraints, which is frustrating from a scalar perspective. And after a month or two of play, the scalper gets bored and wants to quit. In other words, motivation management is difficult. If you give up on motivation management, you need to hire new employees in that span of time. Some people don't make enough money to satisfy their needs due to other jobs, etc. (Basically, they have a quota to make money.) It is troublesome to manage contracts, payments, receipts, etc. when hiring. The initial investment in a character can be sold when the character is withdrawn, but there is a system for producing characters called bleeding, so there is a high possibility that the supply will increase and the value will decrease. It's hard to account for.

What would you do if you were to do it again?

If I had to do it again, I would choose scalers who don't want to change in a good way (housewives, for example). We need to make sure that people are aware of this when they are hired, so they can work longer. Automate hiring, payment, receipt management, etc., or ask people to do it.

This is how I see it.

Conclusion

I happened to see an article titled "Is there anything I should do in my twenties in order to retire as soon as possible on a monthly income of about 200,000 yen? What should I do in my 20s to retire as soon as possible?

I'm going to save up 3 to 5 million. Buy a property. As much as possible in cash. ... For example, if you save 50,000 per property, you will be able to cover most of your living expenses when you own 6 properties. Of course, you will need to learn how to deal with vacancies and other problems. However, after about 20 years, you will be able to earn enough to retire.

Trouble-shooting skills. In short, troublesome things come with any kind of unemployment income. However, even if we are talking about scholarships, five people can earn 100,000 a month, so if you hire 50 people, it becomes 1 million a month, and you can live on that. (A certain amount of initial investment is also required.)

If you think about it, it may not be so bad. In fact, there are Japanese people who make a living from this.

In the end, the difference lies in whether or not you can maintain a happy relationship with the scalpers with enthusiasm. I had hoped that the situation would remain the same even if I left it alone like an investment, so I withdrew once. Of course, since you are dealing with people, you will get requests for this and that.

The hardest part is hiring and payment, but there is no reason not to at least try to do that. Yes, there is such a thing, but.... I think it's important to have a passionate sense of purpose. I definitely want to help the Filipinos in Corona who are having trouble finding work! And so on. I don't know if I'll try it again if the momentum builds. It was a good experience.

In the meantime, I'll go on a trip to the Philippines.
