Why shutting down #TheThirdPillar brand is one of the most important decisions in our 5-year journey.
Here are 3 reasons.
1. TheThirdPillar book gave us a good underpinning of the production function and the role of communities. And we got excited that naming our protocols as TheThirdPillar was a sign of gratitude but TBH, we were hiding behind the name and credibility of Raghuram Rajan. Our vision is of a skill-based community economy but the book is all about decentralized space-based communities. Why do we hide? Fear!
2. The weight of our idea was crushing us. Web3 and DAOs were still miles behind. Read the #NetworkState and realized it's still a capital fix and at a macro level, not even Micro let alone behavior/unit level of economics. The traditional academia was BS (Donut Economics / MIssion economy etc) Sill we went ahead with the snippets of the chapters of TheInternetOfValue - with the content deluge on the internet, amplified through Gen AI. & not doing paid ads gave a zilch response.
Again, Fear! Can we pull this off? with no political or money backing? Positioning a third institution requires us to be cautious of fundraising which made us look foolish in front of our VC friends and foolish calf in front of academic friends.
3: Above all, it was all internal. Am I the right vessel to carry this idea/ concept/ vision? So the fundamental feeling of fear had to be addressed. This led to a year-long journey of unlearning, learning, self-discovery, facing the truth, staring at the monster's eyes within, and the final step of leveraging the internal monster.
Fear is yet another emotion

So here we are, bye-bye #TheThirdPillar and Vanakkam #TheInternetOfValue We (@Korlaism & I) started this journey in 2017, and many joined us and left. @giridhargopalp has been with us for 3 years now. Today marks the day1 for the rest of this journey!
