The idea

I’m building a web3 music platform where people come to discover new music, support their favorite artists, and connect with people that have similar music interests.

Initially, I had an idea to make a music collaboration platform, where artists could connect with each other and release music NFTs together. Over time this idea evolved into a music streaming platform that incorporates this as a feature.

For artists

Here artists come to upload music, share their stories, build a community, and sell their NFTs, and crowdfunding projects.

While fans can listen to the music for free, join their favorite artist’s communities, and support them by buying their NFTs, donating, or helping fund their projects.

Music NFTs

The way artists make money here is by selling their NFTs and receiving donations, not by getting streams.

NFTs can be auctioned or sold directly. There can be different editions with different utilities.

In order to do this successfully, they have to have a strong community around their music. They can do this by engaging with their community, sharing the behind-the-scenes or stories behind tracks, and sharing about themselves in their profiles.

Crowdfunding projects

Another feature that I think can be interesting for independent artists is crowdfunding projects in the app.

Reasons for crowdfunding can be:

• Album releases (marketing & distribution budget)
• Business ideas (clothing, local businesses, etc)
• Funding public goods
• Other creative endeavors

For the fans and listeners

This is a place where you can come to listen to music for free, create playlists, connect with others that have similar music interests, have a home for all of your music NFTs, and support your favorite artists.

Support your favorite artists by buying an NFT from them, donating, supporting their upcoming projects, or sharing their music.

You can be part of artists' communities or build your own around your playlists.

Why I want to build this

I haven’t found a nice and easy way to follow my favorite artists and learn about them while having access to ways to support them (other than just streaming or sharing their music).

I believe that web3 gives us the tools to build new ways for artists to generate more income and connect more with their fans. I see this platform as a contributor to the whole space, I would love to see this platform grow and collaborate with other web3 music platforms like Royal and Sound.xyz.

This is not meant to replace Spotify, it’s for the music fans that want to connect and support their favorite artists.

This platform is to be decentralized and controlled by artists and music lovers. I want it to stand for the community around music, collaboration, and contribution.

How this will be built

Once the main idea is fully built this will evolve into a DAO.

   Reaching out to artists and advocates of the web3 music space to get feedback. Also reaching out to artists who aren’t too familiar with web3. As well as, technical people and other entrepreneurs in web3 to iron out tech and financial details.
