AI-Powered NFTs

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are unique digital assets stored on the blockchain. Typically thought of as art or profile pictures, NFTs have added a unique element – Artificial Intelligence (AI). From a project known as Altered State Machine, holders participating in this ecosystem will be able to create highly specialized virtual agents, represented as NFTs, that compete with each other, interact, and support their human actors while traversing the ether.

Your Metaverse Twin is Powered by AI

Altered State Machine (ASM) is a decentralized protocol that mints NFTs to create AI agents. Each NFT will be composed of three innovative characteristics: a Brain (the core of the agent), Memories (learned behavioral strategies), and a Form (encodes physical attributes and operation). Native to ASM are ERC-20 tokens ($ASTO), which when purchased, allow ERC-721 tokens (NFTs) to hit the Gym (networked GPU cloud compute providers, e.g. miners) that improve their underlying machine learning model. Just as in the real world, these NFTs express randomized traits (a unique genome created through the Chainlink RNG and a VRF function)– thus, the motivation of developing a highly specialized iNFT (artificially intelligent NFT) lies in learning how to become the most efficient, productive, or intuitive within the digital world the agent lives within.

Layer 3:

It Gets Crazier

Alright, this project has a lot going on. We have iNFTs, which is not a new concept in the NFT space, a native token ($ASTO), and a two-staged decentralized autonomous organization (DAOs). The $ASTO token is designed to be utilized in governance, staked to train the NFT, mint NFTs within the ASM and non-ASM metaverse, and provide NFTs instant powerups/improvements/items/skins. Under this model, we see that the project is a fully supported GameFi ecosystem designed to be interoperable across multiple metaverse platforms. As noted previously, the ASM DAO has two sub-DAOs, HarlanDAO and ElderDAO. HarlanDAO is designed to collect initial seed funds into a Gnosis Multi-Sig wallet and will operate ASM as they construct ElderDAO. ElderDAO functions similar to any DAO these days to cast votes for new proposals, create liquidity pools, change token release schedules and allocations, and adjust the GameFi model (expression of NFT trait strengths/weaknesses).

Noted in ASM’s whitepaper, at the core if this project is a patent composed of three layers: an execution model, interface definition, and blockchain reference. Its true novelty lies in creating interoperability across multiple execution environments. Theoretically, an agent can operate as a smart assistant in domains such as Decentraland or The Sandbox, be deployed as a bot to automate DeFi activities, or even serve as a means of passive income to battle within other GameFi applications. The first example, available on OpenSea, was a PoC of ASM composite units being deployed to create the first Artificial Intelligence Football Association (AIFA). Prior to building a team, though, holders could have purchased an ASM AIFA Genesis Cube that contained four (4) unique AIFA All-Stars, and most importantly, an ASM Brain. Holders are able to create teams, pair them with the ASM Brain (mentioned in Layer 2), and train them to create dominant teams.
