Ethereum’s project count in the GameFi ecosystem is not growing as fast as on the BSC and Polygon chains and game projects from the latter two ecosystems have become the most popular in today’s crypto market.

According to Footprint Analytics, Polygon has 117 projects, an increase of 388% YoY. The following will introduce three of Polygon’s more popular games.

3 Game Projects on Polygon

Data on new users of Polygon game projects over the last 30 days shows that Arc8 by GAMEE, Crazy Defense Heroes and Pegaxy account for more than 54% of all new users of Polygon.

Arc8 Has More Than 10 Kinds of Mini-games

Launched in October 2021, Arc8 is GAMEE’s collection of mobile games on the Polygon chain. Game genres include puzzle, action, card and arcade.

Tokenomics

Arc8 supports 2 types of tokens, GMEE and points.

GMEE has governance features that allow holders to participate in decisions about product features and content. It can also be used to purchase in-game characters, G-Bots, in-game land, earn rewards, stake, and more. As of April 26, the price of GMEE was $0.051.

GMEE can also be staked in the liquidity pool to form an LP pair with MATIC and ETH, which can earn about 200% APR.

Points are reward points earned by playing games and completing daily tasks, which cannot be bought and sold. However, users can use the points to improve their skills by participating in practice matches and tournaments to earn GMEE rewards.

Gameplay

Currently, there are more than 10 mini-games available on the Arc8 DApp. At any given time, there are 2 to 4 tournaments for players to join and play against live competitors. Players can play against each other by betting GMEE in 1v1 matchmaking mode, and the winning player doubles their GMEE.

Here are 3 popular mini-games:

  • 99 Blocks: Inspired by Tetris, 99 Blocks features a grid of 3×3 squares, where the player must adapt different elements to fill the whole grid. The more blocks the user fills, the higher the score.
  • Globo Run: One of the first games available to players on Arc8, Globo Run takes its inspiration from popular smartphone games like Temple Run and Subway Surfers. Players navigate a ball through a maze full of obstacles while collecting items to earn more points.
  • Pixel Dungeon: One of the most challenging mini-games on Arc8, Pixel Dungeon is roughly the same as Globo Run. However, instead of rolling a ball, players need to navigate through more complex mazes using cubes. The shape of the cubes usually makes movement more difficult.

In general, the gameplay of these games is much the same. Although the game is free to play, it takes a significant amount of time to Play-to-Earn.

Crazy Defense Heroes

CDH first launched in January, 2018 as Crazy Kings. In May, 2020, Animoca Brands integrated blockchain technology, allowing players to earn $TOWER by playing.

Tokenomics

TOWER is a native token for CDH games and can be purchased on Uniswap, SushiSwap, and other platforms. It is used both as a governance token and to purchase card NFTs and other in-game items.

According to Footprint Analytics, as of April 26, the price of TOWER was $0.018. Among users, games with low thresholds and simple gameplay are more popular — and CDH is an example of such a game. However, the token value obtained by participating in the game is not high.

Gameplay

CDH focuses on collectible cards with different powers and rarities. Players can earn TOWER by playing games to collect cards and can also earn rewards by completing calendar check-ins.

In addition to the above gameplay, you can also earn extra TOWER by opening Star Chests in-game. You can also earn stars for participating in battles every day, up to a maximum of 3 stars per battle. Compared to Arc8 games, CDH has relatively undeveloped gameplay.

Pegaxy Ranks 4th in Total Uses on Polygon

Pegaxy is a sci-fi horse racing simulation game released in November 2021. Players can use it to compete in PvP tournaments to win prizes.

Tokenomics

Pegaxy has a dual currency model that includes PGX and VIS.

PGX is the governance token, which lets users vote on the development and of the platform ecosystem. In addition, it is primarily used for breeding, staking, trading tokens on the marketplace, and earning rewards in bidding tournaments.

VIS is also used for breeding, and can be obtained by winning matches. The difference with PGX is that it is used to balance the ratio of Mint-to-Burn to prevent token price fluctuations** **over-dominating the ecosystem.

Horses in the game come with different pedigrees and rarity features, which greatly affects the prices.

Gameplay

Pegaxy has very simple gameplay. The Pega Horses run on a track, which the player does not influence. However, players may watch the races as they unfold.

Regular Season

No entrance fee is required. You can choose the PEGA (in-game entry horse) for the competition by renting or buying, and the top 3 finishers from 11 entries receive a prize.

Big Sprint Championship

The Big Sprint Championship is held once a year, with the first 11 months being the qualifying month. The top 12 players in each of** the five levels (RENTING, MARKETPLACE, RACING, BREEOING, and CONNECT) **are selected each month, drawing a pool of 660 players per year into the global finals. The winner of the final round is rewarded with a large amount of PGX Token distributed by the Ecosystem Fund.
