Communities of Tomorrow.

by Matthew Park

Spatio is on a mission to bring true authenticity to the web.

Today society is misaligned in 3 main ways:

  • Low trust in institutions and big tech
  • High societal polarization
  • Entropic social media environment

There is everything wrong with today’s social & messaging platforms

  • Instagram = ”fake culture”, lust, depression, massive insecurities
  • Twitter = “cancel culture”, division
  • WhatsApp = spam, bots, majority of groups consist of inactive members, messaging scammers
  • Telegram = same as WhatsApp, except much worse, the home for pump and dumps
  • Discord = dead channels, extremely annoying notifications

DAOs need a single place that:

  • ensures transparency
  • decreases noise within channels (rooms for Spatio)
  • fosters an emotionally invested and incentivized community
  • has open access to exclusivity
  • is ultra-flexible in monetization
  • is natively designed to categorize NFT's as utility tools, and social tokens as security tokens both with the first principle mindset of putting what truly matters first within a social platform: community; NOT investing (gambling) pump and dumps.
  • almost completely eliminates automated bots and scammers; their operation is no longer sustainable, meaning people are forced to be authentic on Spatio.
  • sets unique conditions for each DAO (not all DAO's have the same goals and needs)

How We Plan to Become the Solution.

Robinhood has developed its investing platform to feel gamified, which has attracted many people into what they thought was "easy" investing, but instead feels like gambling your life away. Crypto native platforms like Kucoin, Phemex, Binance, and even Coinbase have also been developed to make investing feel gamified and genuinely addictive as centralized DEXs. They are destroying people’s lives, for a profit.

“Decentralized” social platforms today are more like too-good-to-be-true casino hubs. Current web3 dapps like BitClout and DiamondApp are notoriously known for scammers using their platforms to pump and dump native creator coin prices just to make a quick buck. People are not on these platforms to connect with one another; they are there to find "the next hidden gem." We don't need default creator coins; instead, we need to be utilizing NFTs as utility tools and tokens as a security token to build sustainable and authentic audiences for the ultra long-term.

On Spatio, there are no "buy" buttons; instead, there are "support" buttons. There are no charts, prices, none of the alike - Spatio ensures the entire experience has just one main purpose, which is to further human connection and social interaction.

Today’s DAOs are all over the place. They need a “home”

The main problem stifling gated transparent communities like Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) is that they can't be autonomous in terms of control, who sees what, circulation of tokens, etc. It's like having an extraordinary mission-driven non-profit with a great team of internal volunteers, but the organization, flow, and external contribution are completely broken from the ground up, which hinders scalability, and most importantly, communication of the vision.

  1. How we plan to eliminate the 'gambling' & “trading” stigma in NFT's and web3 for creators, so they don't feel under the rock when putting out content.

Spatio is removing the gambling stigma within crypto and web3 by putting the entire focus on purpose and removing the perception that everything has to be an investment by carefully redesigning the frontend of Spatio that is completely different from what crypto is used to, with the one goal to bring back true and genuine human connection and social interaction.

  2. Meaningful Notifications

Mobile notifications can be key in mitigating spam because a user has to prove their interest in the DAO group they signed up for. This default skin-in-the-game model is part of what will ensure that only people who are actually interested in a particular topic of interest will stay in a DAO group and not just become another member. Upon joining a DAO group a user will immediately receive the option whether to leave notifications on or off. Users will also be able to go even further and customize notifications specifically for the group they just joined. This ensures that users only receive notifications that matter to them. If a user does not engage within a DAO group after a specific number of days set by the creator of the DAO group, upon initially joining a DAO group they will automatically be removed from that DAO group.

Every DAO is different; every room should be too.

Behaviors of all DAO's are generalized on platforms like Discord and Telegram - Critical pipes of knowledge flow aren't well established - just a hodgepodge of noisy channels and graveyard channels - defining mechanisms of each specific DAO governance proposal can help approach the latter problem better.

Mintgate - not integrated natively still hasn’t developed SDK

OurSpaces.xyz - completely gated, only token-holders can see and interact

Blockscan Chat - It is just messaging web3 wallets, nothing else.

Luma - token gates for links, made natively like a service, no built-in community

What we see are the two most important integrations that can be used as a first step of leverage that needs to be fixed for groups.

  1. Open token gating logic

  2. SMS notifications
