How Content Production Came: The Agricultural Magazine “The Furrow”

Inserting content into a marketing strategy, or at least something like it, which we call content marketing, came from John Deere, owner of an agricultural machinery company of the same name. He launched the company's own publication in 1895 called “The Furrow”.

John did not use the magazine to advertise his agricultural vehicles, rather the farmer used it to bring information to the target audience, production techniques, market news and “success stories” from consumers of his product.

The Michelin Guide to gastronomy and tourism was far more effective than any sales catalog. At the beginning of the 20th century, the first copies of the “Michelin Guide” by the famous French tire manufacturer began to circulate. Custom Publishing Council, in the United States, created in 1998. A company that published magazines exclusively for brands having a great success. The emergence of the Term And finally, in 2001, Penton Custom Media coined the term content marketing. The American company was led by Joe Pulizzi founder of the (CMI) Content Marketing Institute.

The main connection channel between you, your offer and your potential consumer is content. It is through the content that your message reaches the persona of your business with your mission, vision and values. Of course, because this brings closeness and relationship, without a shadow of a doubt it is a trade-off. The consumer wants relevant content, he wants to buy a product, and will do so when he consumes enough content about a certain subject.

However, content production does not break all barriers, so here comes the Digital Marketing strategies.
