3 Use Cases for Wallet Tracking Analysis

Nov. 2022, Vincy

Data Source: Footprint Analytics- Wallet Profile

Wallet tracking analysis allows analysts to understand blockchain users’ on-chain activities and positions. In this article, we will describe some of the metrics that the wallet analyzer uncovers.

*Footprint Analytics — *Wallet Profile

Footprint Analytics selected the relatively active 0x81e4xxxxxxb2e92 wallet address to use as an example.

1.Portfolio Statistics and Indicators

By checking the investment portfolio of each user through the wallet address, we can observe their position opening, rebalancing, and holding. This indicator can help you quickly understand how big players bet on different projects and blockchains. Included metrics:

  • Personal profile tags (whales, collectors, etc.)
  • Buy and sell volume
  • Return on investment
  • Profit and loss situation
  • Holding value

According to Footprint Analytics dashboard metrics, the wallet address has games, metaverses, and NFTs in its portfolio. There are more NFTs held in the game than in NFT projects.

*Footprint Analytics — *Holding Number by Type

This portfolio shows us the NFT holdings in the wallet and we can see what collections they have, the number of given collections and the estimated total value of ETH. Decentraland LAND currently holds $1.06 million with 777 total NFTs. Gods Unchained, The Sandbox and Somnium Space hold a very small percentage of the total. It is clear that this user is a fan of virtual worlds and the card game genre.

In addition, our definition in “4 indicators to analyze the supply and demand of NFT collections” marks addresses with more than $1 million in assets as whales. Thus, the wallet analyzer shows that this user is a whale user as he currently holds more than $1 million in value. They have also made significant profit by selling in-game NFTs.

2.Wallet Activity Log

We use three charts to monitor the activity of the wallet. You can view wallet metrics for.

  • Earliest and latest time activity, days active and transactions
  • Activity charts for casting, buying, selling, sending and receiving
  • Activity overview with information about NFT platform, collections, values, etc.

As seen in Figure 1, this user has recently been active in playing Gala Games for more than 29 days, and the number of transactions is even more than double the number of times in 2020.

Figure 2 shows that users earn more by continuously selling NFT assets.

Figure 3 shows the information about the user’s past activities regarding the items invested and the current value of the holdings.

3.Wallet Relationship and Application Usage View

The user can see the relationship diagram of the wallet addresses.

  • Interaction with wallet addresses such as Whale, Contracts, etc.
  • Interaction with transaction counts and dates

Users can see how the Wallet APP is being used.

  • View dApp usage and volume
  • View GameFi game time and active days

In the figure below, we can see that the whale user interacts with 8 protocols. And we can visually see that the user’s holding time for each protocol is relatively concentrated, with no more than 30 active days.

*Footprint Analytics — *Daily Game Activities by Protocol

In the case of interactive wallets, we can view the protocols that the address interacts with. Thus, we can use filters to present data metrics that fit our needs and hopefully you will have a better understanding of the analysis of wallet addresses through this dashboard.
