Action

  1. Be a performer with pleasure: a fluid balance between the elite performer & enjoy the journey of live and living in the moment. Search for genuine peace. Hoe haal je ook maximaal plezier uit een dag met zware productie? The mountain climb: look at the top (performance), but enjoy the hike (pleasure).

  2. Nelson Mandela: the long walk

  3. Schedule private days with my kids. Love is a verb 😊

  4. (1) create a lifeline (alongside the line, write down your goals) so that at the end you have the feeling ‘I have lived my life fully’. (2) Also incorporate your philosophy statement: governing values, how you want to life and what you stand for. (3) Articulate your top 10 organizing principles, ten sentences that you can read every morning before you walk out in the world to remind you of what is most important and to keep you focused. Stakes in the ground, non-negotiable like I will always put my family first, help will always be a top priority, no matter what happens I will be honest, each day I will learn something new, each day I will do at least do some thing that will strike fear in my heart (as you do things you fear, the death of fear is certain) (4) break down your goals in sequenced action that you can do every few months (Confucius 1000 steps quote, it all begin somewhere). (5) go in your silent place and plan your week: the blueprint for a beautiful week (mission critical!!). Reconnect with the 20 year plan, go through my philosophy statement, review my top 10 organising principles, measure how I’m doing in quarterly goals, and build my weekly plan in the template I have laying ready (misschien in de outlook agenda?). Schedule all in this plan (!)Review your plan every morning to lock it in.

Info

1. Work-life balance

  1. Work-life balance is a fluid balance between performance and balance. It changes every day and is subjective and a deal. You must work on it every day. The key is being aware and use the tools to adjust the balance. Be a performer with pleasure: a fluid balance between the elite performer & enjoy the journey of live and living in the moment. Search for genuine peace.

It takes about 300 hours to create a new pattern. Incorporate both elements in one day: elite perform and join this with pleasure. The mountain climb: look at the top (performance), but enjoy the hike (pleasure). Nelson Mandela with the long walk: After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. But I can rest only for a moment, for with freedom comes responsibilities. And I dare not linger, for my long walk has just begun. You get to greatness by small steps.

  1. Devote yourself to daily care. Nurture yourself and take care of yourself. You can’t do good, if you don’t feel good. You can’t be a positive source of energy, if you don’t have energy. Self-care is a must to help others. It is mission critical, non-negotiable. Self-care:
  • be a better human being, take a holy hour during 5AM. Work on your character, inner beliefs, fears. Life is a exercise of learning understanding (of others). We don’t see the way the world really is, we see it through a stained-glass window. Holy hour (could also do dreaming).

  • write a journal, see the patterns. Search your feelings. And: REVIEW YOUR DAY: LEARN FROM LIFE!!!

  1. Deeper learning. Create a structure for your journal. Creating space, getting to know yourself etc. How are you structuring your journal? Catch all the different kinds of value somehow. Soms gewoon even lekker dingen uitschrijven en dromen, of emoties kwijt, maar sommige inzichten of uitdagingen moet je ergens op kwijt. Ram het op een flap zodat je het terug kunt lezen. Dump de ideas en structuur

  2. Nature is so powerful. Music!! Don’t neglect music. And eat well as elite performers. Health is the most important you have, even more important than your family.

  3. Enrich your life with relationships. Don’t go alone to the top! Love is all. Schedule private days with your children. Love is a verb.

  4. Get brilliant in life planning. Focus. Focus. Focus. Every action is once driven by a thought. If you don’t focus your thought, you don’t focus your actions…Create your painted picture -> the vision for how you want your life to look like. Work backwards from there. A plan removes the torment of choice, a plan provides clarity. Don’t forget the joker: life will throw in curve balls as well. Failing the plan, is planning to fail. Go an hour in silence every week and plan your week. Nothing will focus your mind as a clear plan. Don’t major in the minor things.

  5. Practice gratitude and celebrate more. Celebrate while you climb (Nelson Mandela mountain example).

  6. Make the time for fun and adventure

  7. Focus on impact and meaning. Its not what we get from life, it’s what we give to live.

3. The four interior empires

The four Interior Empires are essential to happiness. To be a genius and thrive in the long run, we need to take care of ourselves. Sharma calls these our interior empires and provides the four most important ones: • Mindset: Relates to the psychological aspect of our being, for example, our thinking and optimism. Important to developing personal mastery, the mind-set needs help from other empires. You can change the way you think, but you must change in other ways as well. • Heart set: Relates to our emotional intelligence. How good are we at managing our own emotions? Your emotional empire can “purify” your mind-set. Let go of sadness, resentment, and fear. • Health set: Relates to our physical fitness. Do all you can to live as long as possible, including focusing intently on being healthy. • Soul set: Relates to spirituality. How are we connecting to that Supreme power? All people have an “unstained spirit and spotless soulfulness” that informs their being.

By taking care of these four empires, we can all achieve remarkable things and obtain life goals we have held forever.
