Strxngers NFT is a new-born collection of pixel PFPs that will shine a light to the world. Our mission is to create the most incredible pixel IP and games in Web 3.0 with the community in a brand-new way. It’s time for you to pass on the aesthetics of pixels and amplify the spirit of CC0, with a puzzle-like roadmap and an unconstrained community, if you fancy weirdos, Strxngers is what you would fall in love to.

Here are the translations of Strxngers in different areas in China: -"异人" in Mainland China (voted by the community) -“怪咖” in Hong Kong (voted by the team) -“接头霸王”in Taiwan (voted by the team) Scroll down to the end of the article for ways to join the community.

How do we perceive NFTs?

  1. NFT as a non-fungible digital asset, utilizes blockchain technology and is invading the world. We adore NFTs, without which there would not be Web 3.0, metaverse, next art revolution or new generation of social network.
  2. NFTs will be owned by everybody in the world, whether they are purchased or gifted, as artworks or game props, as membership card or life accomplishment.
  3. However, some of the NFTs nowadays sucks. It's full of junky art, whitelisted slaves, copyright tyrants, price manipulation, boring copycats, grandstanding and attention grabbing. While bringing benefits to players, it brings anxiety, fatigue, piracy and fake news. The community pretended to be supportive and broke up when prices fall. Celebrities and KOLs charge to promote some junky projects just to cheat the follow buyers; or they only buy famous blue chips, but never participate in the community and culture. Even your childhood idols often disrespect NFTs. Is this what we want? To cede the influence of Web 3.0 to crooks and rulers of the old media?
  4. NFTs betray the real artist. Counterfeit NFTs are on the rise, but truly outstanding artists are buried. The price of NFTs betrays creativity. Some NFTs are interesting experiments that we are both willing to support, but some are just boring fake scams.
  5. Originally, we hoped that NFTs could help independent artists and independent game developers find a new route, raise enough money for full-time involvement, and create and grow with the community. But the market is not moving in that direction. So we're going to devote some of our effort to doing something.

What kind of NFT do we want to create?

We think a good NFT project should look like this:

  • In terms of art, it does not need to be an amazing artwork, but at least has a theme and a story, which shows the deep engagement of the team. It should have a unique style and temperament, and should represent a certain kind of person or a certain social phenomenon such as an excellent literary work. It should not have too high aesthetic threshold. People would have emotional identification with it and are willing to speak for it. Creators can simply create around it and even have the potential to become a meme.
  • In terms of rights, NFT is technically interoperable and composable, and it should be the same in terms of art and commercialization. However, most projects don't do that in terms of art, technical specs, and copyright. They pretend to be advanced, but they are actually conservative. They give ownership to users, but take the IP and brand into their own hands. We want to remove any barriers to getting the community to recreate, commercialize, or even start a business around this IP. You can do anything with this project that is not against the law and human morals. The only forbidden freedom is the freedom of forbidding others.
  • The operation is community-driven. The mint number, price, and rules are all served for the community, not self-profit. The number of collections should not be fixed and should gradually expand with the community. The reason why most of the collections control quantity is mainly to control the price, so we will release the collections themselves gradually rather than release sub-collections and use them to divide the hierarchy. Apes are no higher than dogs. We treat our community with sincerity and believe that the community will also give us trust in return.
  • In terms of atmosphere, don't be so serious. In a new field full of creativity, art and young people, keeping serious is the worst thing to do. We love bad memes so much. If it wasn't for the need to write this article, I wouldn't even want to talk properly. We've been active in various groups, satirizing everything we can see, including ourselves. Just fight against this adult world of seriousness, control, and hypocrisy with the most intuitive hilarity.
  • It had better be equal. The value of NFT is not determined by the creator, but by the owner. It doesn't matter how famous the team is, just how much you think it's worth. Consensus is the foundation of the price, and the community is the foundation of the project. Any participant is equal in the community, maybe the team and some celebrities have more resources and influence, but they are equal in the community status.
  • It had better be unique and memorable. People might not often chase and fomo it, but will never forget it. Even if it returns to zero one day, everyone feels that it has brought something good to them.

We not only see NFT as the future, but also as life. Because our life is also an NFT, no one is the same, everyone is strange. Welcome aboard!

The Roadmap

No roadmap. We will have events, but never a clear roadmap. Embracing change should be the tacit understanding and trust between us. We will grow with the community, explore new ways to build together, and encourage Asian cultural narratives and creativity. We will release some clues and puzzles from time to time, and smart and loyal community participants will get first-hand information. You are also welcomed to add new ideas at any time.

About use of proceeds. Firstly, it will be used to thank the initial team for their efforts, and flows to those who have contributed to the community. We'll support all derivative projects from this IP and support some of the fanciful multimedia ideas in the community. We don't see cryptocurrencies as a real source of cash, and we don't make a living from it, but as a trust and a resource that can help us do more interesting experiments.

In fact, I have the ability to develop a 3D metaverse, but that would shut out most people and be soulless. The immersive experience is just the shell, and the NFT community is the soul. If you really want to start a worthwhile new universe, what you need most is the first group of believers who are willing to walk with you. In general, we won't do anything until we think of and pick the most interesting idea; we won't rug until the community completely forgets us.

Pixel Art & CC0

We believe that NFT eliminates the technical threshold of circulation, pixels will lower the artistic threshold of circulation, and CC0 will eliminate the psychological and rights threshold of circulation.

  1. CC0 is the real NFT. The way you commercialize should be absolutely different from traditional IP, and never repeat the old commercial methods which is effective but boring in the new world.
  2. Pixels are a low-fidelity art form, using which fans have a wider space to create. Besides, there are only stick figures and Loots that could go further. Beautiful illustrations and 3D art are of course great, but it's too specific to get people involved, right? Good art is never a technical competition. The pixel doesn't tell you everything, so you always have to use your imagination.
  3. So CC0 x NFT x Pixel, this is the coolest way to build IP in the digital age we can think of. Thanks to Simon de la Rouviere's article for inspiration. We also miss the boom years full of pixel games. To a certain extent, we also regard the NFT infrastructure as a creative game platform similar to switch and steam.
