The 1st Annual METAVERSE Art Exhibition Opens in Venice

Venice, 27th April 2022 - "The 1st Annual METAVERSE Art @VENICE" is a research exhibition jointly organized by teachers, students, and artists from universities around the world led by the Ca' the Foscari University of Venice, Qingdao Wanmei Shengshi Technology Information Co., Ltd. and Huashan International Culture Development Company, founded by Victoria LU, virtual singer Autumn & Artist CryptoZR, with the organizing committee formed by Angelo Maggi， Fei Jun, Xue Lei, Popil and Chen Xu; curated in chief by Angelo Maggi, Vice Dean, IUAV University of Venice and Fu Sen. Rick Juang serving as Technical Curategist.
Generation Z, those born between 1995 and 2009, are aboriginals in the era of high development of Internet information. They have been influenced by digital information technology, instant messaging devices, smartphones, and online games since childhood, so they are also known as the "Internet Generation". With the iterative update of various hardware and software devices such as 5G, AI, cloud computing, big data, digital twin, blockchain, AR, VR, MR, XR (Extended Reality) technology, new media art has developed, and various visual, transformational and interactive content has been screened on today's network. The digital life experience of today's network users can break the physical space limitation in real life and the barrier of brain cognition and mental imagination in the real world. This so-called "METAVERSE" has become a hot topic among global investors and creative professionals.
This exhibition uses the core attributes of “DAO” (short for Distributed Autonomous Organization): collection, crowdfunding, co-construction, platform interconnection, high degree of autonomy, and decentralization, as the curatorial concept. Although this exhibition is not a completely virtual cloud-based exhibition, it is based on a virtual-real interaction model, which is interactive and linked with the on-site physical exhibition in Venice, Italy. This exhibition shows people a new curatorial model, display approach, and the possibility of exhibition extension, for example; the online and offline cloud interaction of content between Modernland and the onsite exhibition in Venice.
“Genki” （元氣） is an ancient philosophical concept in China and Japan, which refers to the origin of everything in the world, and is also the original material that produces and constitutes everything in the world. It explains the phenomena of the formation, development, change, and extinction of all things in the universe by the movement and change of Genki. The Study of Genki refers to the world view of human understanding of nature. Does the birth of the Metaverse possess such primitive materials, does it include the cognition of the "Study of Genki", the link between the physical world and the virtual world, various immersive interaction ways, and the interaction between real and virtual people, things and environment in Metaverse, not only does it create value, but also realize the sense of life existence? "We think through experiments from practice" is our common declaration!
"Genki" is a successful exhibition organized spontaneously by a group of artists, together with their platforms and supporters, across cultures, time zones, regions, and fields. Each section has a different organizer, which can be defined as the attribute of an individual exhibition. Curators can be selected by the artists themselves and content independently curated. Demonstrating a new exhibition mode of "decentralized autonomous curation". Various exhibition presentations and exhibition extensions were experimented to explore rich and diverse possibilities.
The number of online and offline exhibitors of this exhibition is expected to exceed 300. At the same time, during the seven-month exhibition period, the exhibition will link more artists and collateral events from all over the world in the cloud. We integrate and multiply our respective resources and influences by means of platform linkages. We use the Metaverse concept to realize various imaginations and experiments of crossover cooperation, technological empowerment, openness and tolerance, equality and freedom, caring for the future, practicing environmental protection, embracing the world, our love, and intellectual interactions of our imaginations and experiments. Today's earth is full of selfish, paranoid, predatory, racist discrimination. In this great change, we let everyone see hope and beauty with art, and let the world see how art can be borderless, ageless, sexless … everyone cares, helps, and shares equally. We are a group of advanced, intelligent, life-loving, new human beings who are willing to exist in parallel with the Metaverse of virtual imagination outside the universe of physical space.
The 1st Annual METAVERSE Art @ VENICE will kick off with the solo exhibition “CryptoZR: COOKIE COOKIE 2.0” curated by Li Zhenhua, at Thetis S.p.A. Castello 2737/f, Lamierini 2, 30122 Venezia on the afternoon of April 21st, 2022. A joint opening will be held for all exhibitors under the theme of “Genki” on the afternoon of April 27th, at Thetis S.p.A. Castello 2737/f, Capannone 106, 30122 Venezia. Angelo Maggi and Victoria LU will co-host an academic seminar "Metaverse, has the future arrived?" the same afternoon.
The concept of "Genki" will travel through time and space in various fields of the world, constantly overlapping, merging, and changing. Anyone on the earth can interact synchronously with our Venice exhibition through internet social media platforms. The Future Has Come, We Fly Beyond Future!
