Finding Resilience through Sadhguru's Shambhavi Kriya | GratitudeSeries 38/60

In January 2022, I found myself grappling with intense feelings of despondency and a sense of powerlessness. My ambitious project, TheInternetOfValue, was facing significant setbacks, and I was struggling with self-doubt and fear. The communities I had been nurturing were dissolving due to various issues with partners, and my efforts seemed to be met with skepticism and betrayal. This period was marked by a lack of energy and suicidal urges, a stark contrast to the vibrant vision I held for transforming the world through equitable value distribution and wellbeing. How can something work at scale if it ain’t helping an individual, right?

In this challenging phase, I sought refuge in quantifying and understanding my state of wellbeing. It was then I discovered that my physiological markers like Vitamin D, B12, and testosterone levels were alarmingly low. This realization led me to adopt a regimen of heavy weightlifting, aiming to reinvigorate my physical health. However, I knew that addressing my physical state was only part of the solution; I needed to tackle the emotional turmoil and mental chaos that was engulfing me.

My quest for emotional balance and mental clarity led me to Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev's Inner Engineering course, culminating in the Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya. Despite my logical mind's initial skepticism, I committed myself wholeheartedly to the practice. The Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya, a 21-minute process, was not just a meditation technique but a transformative inner journey. This kriya, practiced by millions, promised to elevate practitioners beyond the constraints of body and mind.

As I delved deeper into the practice, I began to experience profound shifts within me. The culmination of the Inner Engineering course was an online initiation ceremony with over 6000 participants, graced by the presence of Sadhguru himself. During this ceremony, I had a transcendental experience. I envisioned a beam of light from the Milky Way traveling rapidly across space, descending upon Earth, to India, Karnataka, Bangalore, and finally into my room in Koramangala. In that moment, I felt enveloped in this celestial light, leading to an epiphany - I was to be a conduit for my ideas, not a vessel burdened by them.

This revelation was liberating. The immense pressure I had placed upon myself dissipated, and I emerged from the experience with a sense of detached attachment towards my work. The ego that had once clouded my vision collapsed, leaving me in a state of pure, unadulterated joy. This transformation was deeply aligned with Sadhguru's teachings, particularly when he says, "Do not try to fix whatever comes in your life. Fix yourself in such a way that whatever comes, you will be fine". His words echoed my newfound realization that inner stability and peace were paramount.

The subsequent 60 days of diligent practice of the Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya brought about remarkable changes in my emotional and mental states. Sadhguru's assertion that "The quality of your life is decided by how peaceful and joyful you are" became a lived reality for me. My journey with the kriya fit seamlessly into the emotion and thought level nodes of the Wellbeing Protocol, offering a tangible method to quantify and enhance these aspects of wellbeing.

In reflection, this journey with the Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya and Sadhguru's teachings has been a cornerstone in my life. It has not only helped me navigate through one of the most challenging phases of my life but also instilled in me a sense of purpose and resilience that continues to fuel my endeavors with TheInternetOfValue. While I may not align with all of Sadhguru's perspectives, this experience stands as a profound testament to the power of inner engineering in transforming one's life.
