With all internal network users accessing the internet through the proxy server, they are only mapped to a single IP address, preventing direct access from the external network. IP address filtering can also be set to limit external access for the internal network. Additionally, two separate internal networks can exchange information through a third-party proxy.

2. Conserving IP addresses by having all internal users access the internet through the proxy server and occupying only one IP address. This allows many machines without direct external network access to connect to the internet through the internal network proxy, reducing costs. However, it also enables network hackers to hide their actual IP addresses and escape monitoring.

3. Improving access speed due to larger bandwidth through the proxy server compared to direct target host access. The proxy server typically has a large buffer disk (possibly up to several GB or more) that stores external information. This buffer is used to quickly fetch and transmit information to the user when reaccessing the same information, enhancing the access speed. However, the proxy can also be used to hide the actual IP address, allowing network hackers to escape monitoring.
