Welcome 👋
My name is Patrick Rivera and I've spent the past few years building consumer apps in crypto / web3 as a product engineer. I currently work at Mirror, the home for web3 publishing.
I’ve helped ship:
We've worked with artists, filmmakers, writers, open source projects, musicians, e-sports teams, grant giving DAOs, party DAOs, and more.
Previously, I was a growth engineer at Instacart and a lead growth engineer at a DeFi startup called Dharma, which was acquired by OpenSea.
In my free time, I write about the intersection of crypto, creators, and communities.
Here are some of my most popular posts:
-
Designing Internet-Native Economies: A Guide to Crypto Tokens (A16Z Future)
-
How Crypto Projects Like Loot are Rewriting the Playbook for Building Communities (Means of Creation podcast)
-
The Next Crypto Cycle - Web3, DAOs, and NFTs (The Deep End podcast by On Deck)
-
Lifecycle of Web3 Communities (On the Other Side podcast by Chase Chapman with accompanying slides here)
I've also been involved with a few DAOs like Fingerprints DAO, Friends With Benefits, Seed Club, Bright Moments, Squiggle DAO, Cabin DAO, and Society DAO.
These DAOs are online communities that launch web3 projects, collect rare NFTs, deploy custom smart contracts, host virtual events, and more.
I think DAOs like these are going to become some of the most influential online communities over the next decade as they amass large treasuries and serve as incubators for the best builders and creators in the space. I wrote about this here.
