On our first episode of Season 5, we speak with Sirsu about competitive communities and culture through the lens of esports. Sirsu is one of the founders of BLVKHVND, an on chain esports organization that leverages innovative technology to compete globally and build open and accessible experiences for their community.

Sirsu shares some of his experiences with managing the community at BLVKHVND, including what he has done to foster an inclusive and welcoming community within the confines of competition and how he has handled conflicts that have arisen amongst community members along the way.

He also shares his thoughts more broadly on the role of leaders or facilitators within a competitive community, how that differs from a traditional competitive community to a decentralized one like BLVKHVND, and some web3 principles and tools he has incorporated into BLVKHVND that he thinks other competitive communities could benefit from as well.

Finally, we chat about one of Sirsu’s favorite topics: culture. Sirsu undertakes the challenge of quantifying culture with words and shares examples and analogies from daily life to help us better understand the nuances of various cultural movements in history.
