Meet the Polygonians!

Faction Overview

Polygonia is a faction of life and harmony, created by a Titan, Crios. The Polygonian faction has an affinity for cosmic and life magics, creating prosperity through means of stoicism and harmony with one’s environment. They believe that material goods are nothing more than superfluous distractions and that an ideal life means relinquishing desire so that one may be more intimately connected to the cosmic thread of the universe. This cosmic energy is the backbone of Polygonian society and is integrated into all aspects of Polygonian life. From technology to philosophical beliefs, Polygonians spend their lifetime endeavoring to create as strong a connection with the harmonic thread as possible.

Led by the nearly immortal Cassian for the past 100,000 years, the Polygonians have learned to become one with their environment, preferring a modest lifestyle surrounded by magical wells and dense forestry. With enough practice an adult polygonian will learn to satiate their hunger through mediation and connection to the harmonic thread, a technique taught to them by the indigenous shamans known as Montets. Although a modest society, the Polygonian high council has been rapidly developing and improving their intergalactic star fleet in preparation for the imminent threat of the void that lies just beyond the veil of their reality.

Cassian and Nerial

Once the wife of Cassian, Nerial was the second most influential member of the Polygonian society. Respected by her people and feared by her enemies, Nerial was open with her opinions and quick to anger. During the epoch of the great exodus Nerial was opposed to her lover's methods, believing that an effective ruler must not be clouded with petty morality and instead do what’s best for their people in the long term, regardless of the immediate backlash it may cause. After being driven out of their original home, Nerial wanted to reallocate their resources to create a newly invigorated and more powerful starfleet, so that they may never be humiliated in battle again. Believing the indigenous Montets posed an obstacle to their terraforming efforts Nerial wanted to harvest the rich land occupied by the Montet shamans.

As Cassian continued to alter the Polygonian way of life in accordance with the Montets' teachings, Nerial became increasingly frustrated that he was leaving their old traditions behind in favor of a new and untested way of life. After months of trying to convince her husband of the mistake that he was making, Nerial was pushed to her breaking point. Feeling that all other options had been exhausted, Nerial rallied her followers and declared civil war against Cassian and all others that would betray their way of life. Outnumbered and overpowered, Nerial faced defeat at the hands of the man she once loved. With nowhere else to go, Nerial and her remaining followers fled into the deepest depths of the Polygonian rainforest. In her darkest moment, at the height of her humiliation and despair, she felt a force reaching out to her. This force was different from the cosmic thread that Cassian had spoken of, it was the antithesis in fact. Ominous and of an unknown origin, Nerial allowed this force to fill her, intertwining itself with all of her hatred, anger, and pain.

As horrific as her metamorphosis was, she felt a strange sense of calm when it was all over, as if all of her emotions had been consumed, but more so than that, she felt overwhelmingly powerful. Sharing this power with the rest of her followers, Nerial created a sub species of Polygonians, the void wielders. With their newfound power, Nerial once again rose up to challenge Cassian, only this time with far greater success. For eons the two of them waged their war on Polygonia, until strange visions beckon them back to their original home-world of Etherea and an armistice was agreed upon.
