Sexual wellness, liberation, pleasure & more in “Yoniverse”, Intimacy Coach Pallavi Barnwal’s coto community

Yoniverse on coto, a social community app exclusively for women, aims to empower women to break traditional myths; understand and express their sexuality.

Like many young girls in the 90s, Pallavi Barnwal had no formal sex education. She remembers hiding her period-stained frock and her bra and trying to find the TV remote whenever a sex scene came on when her family was watching together. Cut to her late 30s, she discovered that sex is nothing but pure pleasure. This realization inspired her to want to educate other women about the nuances of sex.

With a goal to create a safe and inclusive space for these discussions, Pallavi aims to empower women to take control of their own sexual well-being and feel confident in expressing their needs and desires. Yoniverse, Pallavi’s coto community will engage in dialogue with members and help them gain self-confidence in their sexuality. The community will facilitate open discussions on sexuality, sexual health, and the sexual assault that many women experience, and provide support on how to cope with these issues.

With several recognitions to her credit, Pallavi Barnwal is also the founder of GetIntimacy — a collective of passionate people dedicated to helping individuals overcome intimacy and sexuality issues to achieve fulfillment in all their relationships, including one with themselves. She is India’s applauded Sexuality Coach, Pleasure Educator, and TEDx Speaker. Pallavi endeavors to change the Indian mindset towards sex, which is a topic shied away from. She shuns misconceptions that women have, like being ashamed of having a high sex drive or feeling guilty about a low sex drive. She quashes myths about seeking pleasure from the partner or being shameful about the genitals but most importantly, the idea that the pain women feel during sexual intercourse is normal and they are meant to simply bite their lip and bear it.

Pallavi intends to make talking about sex as easy as talking about what you’re cooking for dinner and experiencing pleasure as natural as breathing. She wants each of her community members to have the sex, love, and relationship that they deeply desire, and will empower them with the tools to make it happen.

The key themes around Yoniverse include:

  1. Body Consent: Yes and No | Nervous System | Triggers

  2. Story: Understanding old beliefs and rewriting them to support life and grow expansion goals

  3. Turn-On: Pleasure rituals daily, and not an occasional high

  4. Tantra/Taoism: Ancient breathwork practices to find a soul-pleasure connection

  5. Body: Body image | body positivity | understanding the pleasure anatomy

  6. Pleasure: Self-pleasuring | orgasm | toys | lubes | pleasure products

  7. Permission: Exploring with safety | discovering fantasies | higher level of sex

Pallavi promises a transformational change amongst her community members in just a month of joining the community. From wearing clothes that make women look every bit sexy, to spontaneously dancing in the kitchen as they cook, to flirting with their partner again and bringing back the lost spark, and finally setting healthier boundaries with the family so that they make self-care a priority.

On the creation of Yoniverse, Pallavi says, “In my capacity as a sex educator, it is my objective to promote understanding of and tolerance for one of the most fundamental human desires: SEX! It is a critical enabler for empowering women as well. The Yoniverse community on coto will encourage and support candid and open talks about these subjects. It will enable women to understand and express their sexual desires in a way that is secure, mutually respectful, and consensual.”
