App user agreement is too long or violates the right to know

PinWan, April 16 - according to the Beijing Evening News, recently, the Jiangsu Consumer Protection Commission found that the user agreements of many apps are very lengthy, with tens of thousands of words at every turn. Many consumers complained that when they registered their app account, although they checked “I have read and agreed to the user agreement”, they actually didn’t look at the long agreement at all.

Lawyers said that the agreement itself is too lengthy, resulting in the inability to protect consumers’ rights, and the law may find that the agreement fails to fulfill the obligation of explanation. Jiangsu Consumer Protection Commission suggested that the companies affiliated to app should perform the obligation of obvious prompt of standard terms to protect consumers’ right to know.
