Dogan's Best Places for Work and Chill in Istanbul

Devconnect Istanbul is set to be a major event, boasting over 50 gatherings with a strong focus on education. For those seeking a spot to relax and get some work done throughout the event, So here is a list of my top 6 favorite spots for working and chilling

1) EspressoLab Tünel - one of my favorite places for work. The place is not crowded in mornings and it has different working areas in upstairs. It offers various work-friendly zones on the upper floor. For those who enjoy a smoke while studying, the downstairs area is accommodating, but if you prefer a smoke-free environment to concentrate and work, the upstairs area is the ideal choice.

2) Kahve Dünyası - Şişhane: This is a gem for those in search of a serene and cool ambiance perfect for reading and concentration. The upper level is a haven for focus and relaxation, free from the disturbance of loud music or boisterous chatter. A word to the wise: seating is quite limited, so there's a chance you may not always find a spot to settle in.

3) Turkish-German Bookstore & Cafe: This spot is also commendable for its reasonable prices and suitability as a co-working space. What sets it apart from other venues is the availability of alcoholic beverages for those who might enjoy a drink while studying. With its cool atmosphere, it's a place I find myself returning to frequently. :)

4) Kadıköy Iskele Library: This is one of my favorite place in Anatolian side of Istanbul. Accessible via "Eminönü or Beşiktaş İskele," you can hop on the Kadıköy Ferry to savor the stunning views of the Bosphorus en route. I strongly suggest making a trip to Kadıköy to experience its vibrant nightlife, and yes, it's also a great place to get some work done amidst the buzz. :)

5) Ataturk Cultural Center:
The Atatürk Cultural Center is a spacious venue featuring a library (which closes at 6:00 PM) and several coffee shops suitable for working. It's a worthwhile location to visit and get some work done, although it can get quite busy at times due to its central location. Try to visit there in the morning times if you want to.

6) Espresso Lab Taşkışla:

Espresso Lab at Taşkışla boasts an ideal location with a vast garden that's perfect for outdoor work sessions, weather permitting. It's conveniently situated near the cable car that links two ITU campuses and offers a scenic route over Maçka Park. This spot is not just great for work; you can also take the cable car for its delightful views or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll around the area.

6) Istiklal Millet Kütüphanesi (Library):
The library enjoys a fantastic location, though it's important to note that space is quite limited. If you're in the vicinity, it's worth trying your luck to secure a seat where you can appreciate the view and the ambiance. (Upstair area is better)

I'll continue to refresh this list and include additional recommendations in this blog post.
