Drawtech Introduction:

Smallbrain games has formally announced the launch of its new fully on-chain mobile game, Drawtech On November 1, 2023.

The deployment of Drawtech on the Base mainnet, a new Ethereum L2 solution incubated by Coinbase and built on the open-source OP Stack, is noteworthy. Base currently ranks third among Ethereum Layer 2 solutions with a TVL (Total Value Locked) of $299 million. The prominence of Memecoins on Base, such as $bald, and social dapps like Friend.tech, have significantly elevated its status in the crypto cash flow. As such, the performance of Drawtech is anticipated with interest.

The game scene is very easy. There are 35*35 tiles on the canvas at first. The canvas grows slowly over time, to infinity according to the official.

In the game, participants assume the role of artists, with the capability to color tiles by making a direct payment in $ETH. The cost varies across tiles, and each tile's price is subject to demand-driven fluctuations. A surge in artists coloring a specific tile will result in an increase in its price. The pricing mechanic is a linear VRGDA (Variable Rate Gradual Dutch Auction)

Artists have the ability to view both the collective average price of the tiles and the price of individual tile. By adding color to a tile, artists effectively own it, subsequently making them eligible for associated rewards. However, it's essential to be aware that if another artist colors over a previously one, ownership will change. As such, artists are advised to secure their tiles to maintain ownership.

The frontend charges a ee of 6.23%. No fee is taken at the protocol level. The frontend is open source. So everyone can build one’s own frontends. The GitHub link provided below offers guidance.

Game Strategy:

The essence of the drawtech game is to preserve one's tile as much as possible to gain profits. And according to different situation there are different strategies.More staregies wait.

At first, I misunderstood the game rules. I thought that drawing a tile earlier would mean I'd earn more continuously. So, I spent all my money buying tiles without any strategy, just randomly picking a dozen or so. But reality hit me hard. Actually, the game's profitability is largely tied to luck, but there are still some strategies to increase the chances of making a profit. I've come up with some strategies. They might not be the best, but they definitely require some thought.

1/ Try to choose tiles on the edge that few artists have drawn on. This way, there's a higher chance of preserving them. Some artists even change the top layer of tiles to the same color as the background, making it less likely for others to draw on them.

2/ If the canvas situation is like following, you can diversify your investment. Draw on one tile within a series of tiles with the same color, the chances of it being drawn are also reduced.

Game impressions:

In terms of UI and UX, I really like the game's UI. It has a casual feel to it, and the sound when clicking buttons is quite interesting. However, in terms of UX, since the game is still in its early stages, there are many areas where the user experience is not great such as, being unable to log in, unresponsive clicks, failed payment transaction. There's significant room for improvement.

Compared to other fully on-chain games, drawtech, being launched on Base, possesses a strong ability to attract capital, enticing more players to join. It's evident that, up to now, the official Twitter has garnered a hundred thousand views. Without a doubt, it has made fully on-chain game known to more people.

However, as a blockchain game with a strong financial attribute, early users haven't reaped substantial profits. The cost for those entering later is high. Moreover, I believe the game lacks a little bit fun and playability. As a blockchain game, based on past experience, if it can't satisfy players in terms of both profitability and gameplay, its ability to continuously attract players is questionable.
